Shaken by an internal battle understand how I  identify with the physical landscapes of my childhood recollections, I have painted tangible and intangible connections between people and place. My upbringing in Bangkok, Thailand framed both my visual and emotional experiences. I find comfort in navigating disorganized alleyways and chaotic street markets, socializing with familiar strangers, and living with the unpredictability of political unrest. My series of oil paintings and pen drawings explores the emotional attachments to the people and physical landscapes of Bangkok’s urban community.

An abiding sense of emotional belonging to these landscapes has led me to confront the reality of change and impermanence. Isolated from the community I grew up in, I am forced to accept the changes of a rapidly developing city. Through this self-reflective experience, I question why we value the relationships we have to physical spaces, and why we desire to belong.
